A couple of years ago we wrote about how you should Re-evaluate your cookie and consent management platform, and it’s been interesting to watch how some websites are strategizing around this policy.

One novel approach taken was that by AlloCiné.fr who published the following cookie policy:

English translation:

Access the site for 2€ for 1 month without advertising cookies
Access the site for free by accepting advertising cookies

Usually with most cookie consent policies you can reject optional cookies and continue into a website, usually the most friction being a couple of extra clicks or toggles, but AlloCiné has suggested that you either accept their cookies, or pay up to access their content.

I haven’t heard of anyone challenging them on this, if this goes against the spirit of the cookie law, and if not, will be the new precedent users can expect from other sites moving forward?
